Solid Waste Collection Services Resume Friday, Sept. 15

Solid waste services for trash and recycling only will resume Friday, Sept 15 in unincorporated Collier County, the city of Marco Island, and the city of Everglades City.

Residents are advised to place trash and recycling carts curbside on their regularly scheduled collection day beginning Friday, Sept. 15. Curbside collection of bulky items will resume Oct. 2.  Do not put yard waste in your trash or recycling cart. Recycling carts contaminated with yard waste will be treated as trash. Excess trash may be placed in heavy-duty plastic bags next to the trash cart. Excess recycling may be placed in clear plastic bags next to the recycling cart. Please double bag spoiled food in heavy-duty plastic bags.

Residents are advised to place all Hurricane Irma-related yard waste curbside in the right-of-way as soon as possible. Place storm-related yard waste in a separate pile. Do not mix yard waste with household trash or construction/demolition debris. Yard waste will be collected by a separate hauler under special contract to the county. When placing yard waste curbside, avoid blocking the road, driveways, sidewalks, mailboxes and access to fire hydrants.

The Collier County Landfill, the Immokalee Transfer Station and the North Collier and Marco Island recycling drop-off centers will open beginning Friday, Sept. 15. Residents are reminded that household trash is not accepted at the recycling drop-off centers.

For more information, residents may call Public Utilities Customer Service at (239) 252-2380.
