ROAD ALERT

 

This ROAD ALERT was prepared by the Collier County Growth Management Department to inform the community about scheduled road construction and road maintenance projects along major roadways in Collier County where lane closures are planned or traffic flow may be affected.

COLLIER COUNTY CONSTRUCTION/MAINTENANCE PROJECTS:

107th Avenue North between Vanderbilt Drive and 8th Street North – On 107th Avenue North between Vanderbilt Drive and 8th Street North expect intermittent lane closures, as well as times that the road will be CLOSED to through traffic, allowing local residents only, for approximately two weeks, weather permitting, as crews continue work to install sewer mains, stormwater drainage and water mains as part of the Collier County Public Utility Renewal Project. During road closures, a detour route will be posted. Also, on Friday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, crews plan to continue paving the roadway. Motorists will be able to utilize one travel lane during the paving operation.  Flagmen will be used as needed, as well as advance warning signs and barricades to assist travelers in this area. 

110th Avenue North between Vanderbilt Drive and US 41 – On 110th Avenue North between Vanderbilt Drive and US 41 expect intermittent lane closures (limiting traffic to ONE LANE ONLY), as well as times that the road will be CLOSED to through traffic, allowing local residents only, for approximately two weeks, weather permitting, as crews continue work to install sewer mains, stormwater drainage and water mains as part of the Collier County Public Utility Renewal Project. Also, on Thursday, May 10 and on Friday, May 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, crews plan to pave the roadway. Motorists will be able to utilize one lane during the paving operation. Flagmen will be used, as needed, as well as advance warning signs and barricades to assist travelers in this area. 

Copeland Avenue (CR 29) between Demere Lane and Oyster Bar Lane – On Copeland Avenue (CR 29) between Demere Lane and Oyster Bar Lane expect traffic to be reduced from two lanes to ONE LANE ONLY through spring 2018, while traffic is diverted to Phase I of the new bridge and Phase II is constructed. A temporary traffic signal is operational 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Drivers are reminded to stay alert and expect delays. Motorist should obey posted signs and temporary signalization. Completion of the replacement bridge is planned in summer 2018; the project completion has been delayed by the impacts from Hurricane Irma. 

Golden Gate Parkway between Santa Barbara Boulevard and Collier Boulevard – On Golden Gate Parkway between Santa Barbara Boulevard and Collier Boulevard expect intermittent lane closures both eastbound and westbound for approximately one week, reducing traffic at times from three lanes in each direction to two lanes in each direction, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, while crews continue mulch installation.   Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist travelers in this area.

Immokalee Road and Randall Boulevard Intersection – At the Immokalee Road and Randall Boulevard intersection expect intermittent lane closures in all directions for approximately two weeks from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews paint the traffic signal poles and mast arms. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Vanderbilt Drive between 91st Avenue North and 101st Avenue North – On Vanderbilt Drive between 91st Avenue North and 101st Avenue North expect traffic to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY for approximately two months from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue installation of new water mains and stormwater drainage structures. 6th Street may be used as an alternate route for those travelers who do not have destinations in the construction zone. Advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist drivers in this area. 

White Blvd. over Cypress Canal Bridge Replacement Project – On White Blvd. between Weber Blvd. and 31st Street SW over the Cypress Canal crews are progressing with constructing the new replacement bridge. This project is expected to be completed in summer 2018. The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph through the construction zone.  Flagmen will be used, as needed, along with advance warning signs, barrier wall and barricades, to assist travelers in this area. 

WORK BY OTHERS:

Arthrex Boulevard between Immokalee Road and Creekside Boulevard – Arthrex Boulevard between U.S. 41 and Goodlette-Frank Road will be CLOSED to all traffic for approximately two weeks from  9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue constructing roadway improvements.  In addition, the right turn lane from Immokalee Road onto Arthrex Boulevard will be closed.  A detour will be posted. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Golden Gate Parkway at Goodlette- Frank Road – On westbound Golden Gate Parkway approaching  Goodlette-Frank Road expect northbound traffic right turn lane to be CLOSED on Friday, May 4 from   9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, as CenturyLink crews work in the manhole. Advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Immokalee Drive between SR 29 and Washington Avenue (in Immokalee) – On Immokalee Drive between SR 29 and Washington Avenue in Immokalee expect traffic TO BE REDUCED TO ONE LANE ONLY through Monday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, as crews working for the Immokalee Water and Sewer District continue installation of a new watermain. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Livingston Road between Marsala Way and Reserve Lane - On Livingston Road between Marsala Way and Reserve Lane expect northbound traffic to be reduced from three lanes to two lanes beginning on Friday, May 4 and continuing for approximately two weeks from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews construct an access road for a new development. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Mercantile Avenue near Airport Road – On Mercantile Avenue westbound traffic nearing Airport Road should expect the back portion of the right turn lane to be shortened for approximately two weeks OVERNIGHT from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, as crews continue work for Tamiami Ford, Inc. constructing a new entrance with a turn lane into the car dealership. Drivers will still be able to turn right from Mercantile Avenue onto Airport Road during this work. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.             

Old US 41 between Collier Center Way and US 41 – On Old US 41 between Collier Center Way and US 41 expect northbound and southbound traffic TO BE STOPPED on Wednesday, May 9 for approximately 10 minutes from approximately 5 a.m. to 5:10 a.m., weather permitting, as crews with FPL move equipment across the roadway. Advance warning signs and two law enforcement officers will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Pine Ridge Road and Airport Road Intersection – On Pine Ridge Road in the vicinity of Airport Road expect eastbound traffic to be reduced from three lanes to two lanes beginning on Monday, May 7 and continuing for approximately one week OVERNIGHT from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, as crews with CenturyLink obtain access to cables in the manhole. In addition, the right turn lane from Pine Ridge Road to southbound Airport Road will be closed. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Roberts Avenue between SR 29 and 1st Street (in Immokalee) – On Roberts Avenue between SR 29 and 1st Street in Immokalee expect intermittent lane closures, reducing traffic at times to ONE LANE ONLY, for approximately three weeks from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, as crews install new water lines as part of the Immokalee Water Line Replacement Project. In addition, expect intermittent lane closures at the following intersections with Roberts Avenue as the work passes each side street along this route: 9th Street, 8th Street, 7th Street, 6th Street, 5th Street, 4th Street, 3rd Street and 2nd Street. Local traffic will be accommodated. Detour routes will be posted. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Estey Avenue between Shadowlawn Drive and Airport Road – On Estey Avenue between Shadowlawn Drive and Airport Road expect eastbound intermittent lane closures, reducing traffic at times to ONE LANE ONLY, for approximately three months OVERNIGHT from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, as crews working for FPL replace power poles. Flagmen will be used, as needed, along with lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades, to assist travelers in this area.
