ROAD ALERT

This ROAD ALERT was prepared by the Collier County Growth Management Department to inform the community about scheduled road construction and road maintenance projects along major roadways in Collier County where lane closures are planned or traffic flow may be affected.

COLLIER COUNTY CONSTRUCTION/MAINTENANCE PROJECTS:

Airport Road between US 41 and Immokalee Road – On Airport Road between US 41 and Immokalee Road expect intermittent northbound and southbound travel lane and turn lane closures for approximately two weeks from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews repair roadside signs. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Copeland Avenue (CR 29) between Demere Lane and Oyster Bar Lane – On Copeland Avenue (CR 29) between Demere Lane and Oyster Bar Lane expect traffic to be reduced from two lanes to ONE LANE ONLY through summer 2018, while traffic is diverted to Phase I of the new bridge and Phase II is constructed. A temporary traffic signal is operational 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Also, during the next week expect trucks to be entering and exiting the travel lanes during paving operations.  Drivers are reminded to stay alert and expect delays. Motorist should obey posted signs and temporary signalization. Completion of the replacement bridge is planned in summer 2018; the project completion has been delayed by the impacts from Hurricane Irma.  

Davis Boulevard at Kings Lake Square – On Davis Boulevard at Kings Lake Square expect westbound traffic to be diverted to one lane on the south side of the median and eastbound traffic to be reduced to one lane as well while crews work to repair a broken force main under the roadway in the westbound travel lanes.  Crews expect to have repairs completed by Monday, June 4, weather permitting. Drivers are advised to stay alert and drive with care. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

US 41 from Collier Boulevard to Davis Boulevard/Sandpiper Street – On US 41 from Collier Boulevard to Davis Boulevard/Sandpiper Street expect intermittent lane closures both eastbound and westbound beginning on Tuesday, June 5 and continuing for approximately two weeks, reducing traffic at times from three lanes in each direction to two lanes in each direction, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, while crews continue mulch installation.  Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist travelers in this area.

Golden Gate Parkway between US 41 and Collier Boulevard – On Golden Gate Parkway between US 41 and Collier Boulevard expect intermittent westbound and eastbound travel lane and turn lane closures for approximately two weeks from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews repair roadside signs. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Vanderbilt Drive between 91st Avenue North and 101st Avenue North – On Vanderbilt Drive between 91st Avenue North and 101st Avenue North expect traffic to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY for approximately one month from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue installation of new water mains and stormwater drainage structures. 6th Street may be used as an alternate route for those travelers who do not have destinations within the construction zone. Advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist drivers in this area. 

White Boulevard over Cypress Canal Bridge Replacement Project – On White Boulevard between Weber Blvd. and 31st Street SW over the Cypress Canal crews are progressing with constructing the new replacement bridge. This project is expected to be completed in summer 2018. The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph through the construction zone.  Flagmen will be used, as needed, along with advance warning signs, barrier wall and barricades, to assist travelers in this area. 

 

WORK BY OTHERS:

2nd Avenue between 4th Street and 9th Street (in Immokalee) – On 2nd Avenue between 4th Street and 9th Street in Immokalee expect intermittent lane closures, reducing traffic at times to ONE LANE ONLY, for approximately three weeks from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, as crews install a new water line as part of the Immokalee Water Line Replacement Project. In addition, expect intermittent lane closures at the following intersections with 2nd Avenue as the work passes each side street along this route: 9th Street, 8th Street, 7th Street, 6th Street, 5th Street, and 4th Street. Local traffic will be accommodated. Detour routes will be posted. Flagmen will be used, as needed, along with advance warning signs and barricades, to assist travelers in this area.  

Arthrex Boulevard between Immokalee Road and Creekside Boulevard – Arthrex Boulevard between U.S. 41 and Goodlette-Frank Road will be CLOSED to all traffic for approximately one week from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue constructing roadway improvements.  In addition, the right turn lane from Immokalee Road onto Arthrex Boulevard will be closed.  A detour will be posted. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Camp Keais Road between Oil Well Road and Pope John Paul II Boulevard – On Camp Keais Road between Oil Well Road and Pope John Paul II Boulevard expect traffic to be reduced from two lanes to ONE LANE ONLY, intermittently in short segments, for approximately five months from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews working with Lee County Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LCEC) install power poles. Flagmen, lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Estey Avenue between Shadowlawn Drive and Airport Road – On Estey Avenue between Shadowlawn Drive and Airport Road expect eastbound intermittent lane closures, reducing traffic at times to ONE LANE ONLY, for approximately six weeks OVERNIGHT from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, as crews working for FPL continue work to replace power poles. Flagmen will be used, as needed, along with lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades, to assist travelers in this area.  

Oil Well Road between Oil Well Grade Road and Camp Keais Road – On Oil Well Road between Oil Well Grade Road and Camp Keais Road expect traffic to be reduced from two lanes to ONE LANE ONLY, intermittently in short segments, for approximately five months from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews working with Lee County Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LCEC) install power poles. Flagmen, lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Rainy Season Advisory

**Do not drive on roads that are under water.  If you cannot see the pavement markings or the edge of pavement it is best not to risk driving into deep water. Turn around, don’t drown. ** 

 

**If an intersection is dark, meaning all traffic signals are damaged, missing, or without power, treat the intersection as a FOUR-WAY STOP situation.  However, if drivers approach a signalized intersection where the signal is in flash mode, drivers approaching from the flashing yellow side should proceed with caution and those approaching from the flashing red side need to treat the situation as a stop sign.**
