ROAD ALERT

 

This ROAD ALERT was prepared by the Collier County Growth Management Department to inform the community about scheduled road construction and road maintenance projects along major roadways in Collier County where lane closures are planned or traffic flow may be affected.

 COLLIER COUNTY CONSTRUCTION/MAINTENANCE PROJECTS: 

Airport Road between Estey Avenue and Estuary Drive – On Airport Road between Estey Avenue and Estuary Drive expect intermittent lane closures both northbound and southbound for approximately one month, reducing traffic at times from three lanes in each direction to two lanes in each direction, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews remove trees and grind stumps. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs, a rolling truck with signage and barricades will be used to assist traveler sin this area.

Airport Road and Europa Drive Intersection – At Airport Road and Europa Drive intersection expect northbound traffic to be reduced to one lane, allowing local residents only, beginning Sunday, July 8 and Monday, July 9 OVERNIGHT from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, as crews working on mobilization as part of the bridge replacement on Europa Drive. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.   

Collier Boulevard between Golden Gate Parkway and Magnolia Pond Drive - On Collier Boulevard between Golden Gate Parkway and Magnolia Pond Drive expect intermittent lane closures both northbound and southbound for approximately one month, reducing traffic at times from three lanes in each direction to two lanes in each direction, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews remove trees and grind stumps. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs, a rolling truck with signage and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Copeland Avenue (CR 29) between Demere Lane and Oyster Bar Lane – On Copeland Avenue (CR 29) between Demere Lane and Oyster Bar Lane the traffic pattern has changed as crews progress in constructing the next phase of the Chokoloskee Bridge Replacement Project.  Phase Three has begun; the temporary traffic signal has been removed and a temporary diversion allowing two-way traffic on the west side of the bridge is now in place.  Crews are continuing work on the east side of the project.  Drivers are reminded to stay alert and to obey posted signs. The posted speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph and speeding fines are double in construction zones.  Completion of the replacement bridge is planned in summer 2018; the project completion has been delayed by the impacts from Hurricane Irma. 

Davis Boulevard between Lakewood Boulevard and Heritage Trail – On Davis Boulevard between Lakewood Boulevard and Heritage Trail expect intermittent lane closures both eastbound and westbound for approximately one month, reducing traffic at times from three lanes in each direction to two lanes in each direction, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews remove trees and grind stumps. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs, a rolling truck with signage and barricades will be used to assist traveler sin this area.

Golden Gate Parkway between Airport Road and Santa Barbara Boulevard – On Golden Gate Parkway between Airport Road and Santa Barbara Boulevard expect intermittent lane closures both eastbound and westbound for approximately one month, reducing traffic at times from three lanes in each direction to two lanes in each direction, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews remove trees and grind stumps. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs, a rolling truck with signage and barricades will be used to assist traveler sin this area.

Immokalee Road west of Randall Boulevard – On Immokalee Road west of Randall Boulevard at the Emergency Traffic Signal for Fire Station #10 expect intermittent lane closures in all directions for approximately one week from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews paint the traffic signal poles. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Immokalee Road and 39th Avenue NE Intersection – At Immokalee Road and 39th Avenue NE intersection expect intermittent lane closures both northbound and southbound and expect the southbound right turn lane to be partially closed to traffic for approximately two months from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, as crews work on the sidewalk area next to the force main. Drivers needing to turn right will still be permitted to do so. Drivers are advised to use caution when traveling in this area as excess water is expected on the roadway 24 hours a day in both the northbound and southbound lanes.  Advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Immokalee Road between SR-29 and County Line Road – On Immokalee Road between SR-29 and County Line Road at existing bridge locations expect eastbound and westbound lanes to be reduced to one lane beginning Monday, July 8 and continuing through Friday, July 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, as crews collect soil borings as a part of the preparation work for the Eleven Bridges Replacement Project. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Lake Trafford Road and Carson Roads Intersection – At Lake Trafford Road and Carson Roads Intersection expect westbound traffic to be reduced to one lane beginning Tuesday, July 10 and Wednesday July 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, as crews work on the water main connection. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Oil Well Road between SR 29 and County Line Road –  On Oil Well Road between SR 29 and County Line Road at existing bridge locations expect traffic to be reduced intermittently to ONE LANE ONLY for approximately one week from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, as crews collect soil borings as a part of the preparation work for the Eleven Bridges Replacement Project. Flagmen will be used as needed, along with lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades, to assist travelers in this area.

Rattlesnake Hammock Road and Santa Barbara Boulevard Intersection – At the Rattlesnake Hammock Road and Santa Barbara Boulevard intersection expect intermittent westbound and southbound lane closures for approximately three months from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews working for Collier County Public Utilities continue installation of new pipes for pump station improvements. Travelers should use caution as trucks will be entering and exiting the pump station area.. Flagmen will be used as needed, along with advance warning signs and barricades to assist travelers in this area.

US 41 (East Tamiami Trail) between Lakeside Boulevard and Rattlesnake Hammock Road – On US 41 between Lakeside Boulevard and Rattlesnake Hammock Road expect intermittent lane closures both eastbound and westbound for approximately one month, reducing traffic at times from three lanes in each direction to two lanes in each direction, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews remove trees and grind stumps. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs, rolling truck with signage and barricades will be used to assist traveler sin this area.

US 41 (East Tamiami Trail) between St. Andrews Boulevard and Johns Street On US 41 (East Tamiami Trail) between St. Andrews Boulevard and Johns Street expect both eastbound and westbound traffic to be reduced from three lanes in each direction to two lanes in each direction for approximately two weeks, during daytime hours as well as overnight, weather permitting, as crews repair pipes under the median. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Vanderbilt Drive between 91st Avenue North and 101st Avenue North – On Vanderbilt Drive between 91st Avenue North and 101st Avenue North expect traffic to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY for approximately one month from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue installation of new water mains and stormwater drainage structures. 6th Street may be used as an alternate route for those travelers who do not have destinations within the construction zone. Advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist drivers in this area .  

White Boulevard over Cypress Canal Bridge Replacement Project – On White Boulevard between Weber Blvd. and 31st Street SW over the Cypress Canal crews are progressing with constructing the new replacement bridge. This project is expected to be completed in summer 2018. The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph through the construction zone.  Flagmen will be used, as needed, along with advance warning signs, barrier wall and barricades, to assist travelers in this area.

Rainy Season Advisory

**Do not drive on roads that are under water.  If you cannot see the pavement markings or the edge of pavement it is best not to risk driving into deep water. Turn around, don’t drown. ** 

 

**If an intersection is dark, meaning all traffic signals are damaged, missing, or without power, treat the intersection as a FOUR-WAY STOP situation.  However, if drivers approach a signalized intersection where the signal is in flash mode, drivers approaching from the flashing yellow side should proceed with caution and those approaching from the flashing red side need to treat the situation as a stop sign.**
