FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

ROAD ALERT

This ROAD ALERT was prepared by the Collier County Growth Management Department to inform the community about scheduled road construction and road maintenance projects along major roadways in Collier County where lane closures are planned or traffic flow may be affected. 

COLLIER COUNTY CONSTRUCTION/MAINTENANCE PROJECTS:

95th Avenue North between Vanderbilt Drive and US 41 – On 95th Avenue North between Vanderbilt Drive and US 41 expect intermittent lane closures reducing traffic at times to ONE LANE ONLY for approximately three months, with both daytime and overnight hours, weather permitting, as crews perform a utility renewal project in Naples Park. Flagmen will be used, as needed, along with advance warning signs and barricades to assist travelers in this area. 

Collier Boulevard near Club Estates Drive – On Collier Boulevard near Club Estates Drive (by Deer Wood subdivision) expect southbound traffic to be reduced from three lanes to one lane on Friday, Oct. 12, OVERNIGHT from 8 p.m. through Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6 a.m., weather permitting, while crews repair a valve in the center lane.  Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.  

Livingston Road from Progress Avenue to the Bridge over Golden Gate Main Canal – On Livingston Road from Progress Avenue to the bridge over Golden Gate Main Canal expect southbound traffic to be reduced from three lanes to two lanes for approximately two weeks from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews repair and replace sections of sidewalk.  Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Rattlesnake Hammock Road and Santa Barbara Boulevard Intersection – At the Rattlesnake Hammock Road and Santa Barbara Boulevard intersection expect intermittent westbound and southbound lane closures for approximately two months from    9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews working for Collier County Public Utilities continue installation of new pipes for pump station improvements. Travelers should use caution as trucks will be entering and exiting the pump station area. Flagmen will be used, as needed, along with advance warning signs and barricades to assist travelers in this area. 

Vanderbilt Drive between 91st Avenue North and 101st Avenue North – On Vanderbilt Drive between 91st Avenue North and 101st Avenue North expect traffic to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY for approximately three weeks from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue installation of new water mains and stormwater drainage structures. 6th Street may be used as an alternate route for those travelers who do not have destinations within the construction zone. Advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist drivers in this area. 

White Boulevard over Cypress Canal Bridge Replacement Project – On White Boulevard between Weber Boulevard and 31st Street SW over the Cypress Canal crews are currently working on the northbound side of the road and drivers are advised to expect trucks entering and exiting the northbound lane intermittently. This project is expected to be completed this fall. Drivers are advised to stay alert, use caution and obey all traffic signs when traveling in this area. The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph through the construction zone.  Flagmen will be used, as needed, along with advance warning signs, barrier wall and barricades to assist travelers in this area.  

WORK BY OTHERS:

Livingston Road between Marsala Way and Reserve Lane – On Livingston Road between Marsala Way and Reserve Lane expect northbound traffic to be reduced from three lanes to two lanes for approximately one week from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews working for a new residential subdivision construct a right turn lane and pave an access road.  Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Rainy Season Advisory

**Do not drive on roads that are under water.  If you cannot see the pavement markings or the edge of pavement it is best not to risk driving into deep water. Turn around, don’t drown. **  

**If an intersection is dark, meaning all traffic signals are damaged, missing, or without power, treat the intersection as a FOUR-WAY STOP situation.  However, if drivers approach a signalized intersection where the signal is in flash mode, drivers approaching from the flashing yellow side should proceed with caution and those approaching from the flashing red side need to treat the situation as a stop sign.**
