Collier County Parks and Recreation Offers Many Options for Walkers and Runners

With spring almost here, it is the perfect time for outdoor exercise. Why not walk or run amid natural beauty and tropical wildlife? Collier County Parks and Recreation offers several locations across Collier County to do just that.

Eagle Lakes Community Park, 11565 Tamiami Trail E., Naples, Florida 34113, has a 2.5-mile nature trail that circles lakes and wetlands that are teeming with wildlife. The park is listed on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s birding trail list. Eagle Lakes also offers a 1-mile paved pathway.

East Naples Community Park, 3500 Thomasson Drive, Naples, Florida, 34112, features a 0.75-mile exercise trail that circles a lake and a grassy area. The path is lighted after dark for those who enjoy evening exercise.

Golden Gate Community Park, 3300 Santa Barbara Blvd., Naples, Florida, 34106, offers a 1-mile fitness trail that winds along one of Collier County’s many canals, around the baseball and softball fields, and between the playground and tennis courts. This trail offers walkers and runners ample shade and great scenery.

The boardwalk at Fred W. Coyle Freedom Park

Fred W. Coyle Freedom Park, 1515 Golden Gate Parkway, Naples, Florida, 34105, offers two separate paths. For walkers, there is a 0.75-mile boardwalk that winds through wetlands that are home to native vegetation and animals. The second option for both walkers and runners is a 1-mile pathway that weaves around and even over a small pond.

North Collier Regional Park, 15000 Livingston Road, Naples, Florida, 34109, offers 2.5 miles of walking trails, including a boardwalk portion that takes walkers and runners through a wetlands area.

Sugden Regional Park, 4284 Avalon Drive, Naples, Florida, 34112, offers a 1.5-mile paved trail that goes around the 60-acre Lake Avalon. Lake Avalon is home to many native birds, and you might even see the occasional alligator.

Vineyards Community Park, 6231 Arbor Blvd., Naples, Florida, 34119, has a 0.75-mile lighted paved trail that circles a lake that is home to ducks, herons and Anhingas.

Gordon River Greenway Park has two access points: 1590 Goodlette-Frank Road, Naples, Florida 34102, and 1596 Golden Gate Parkway, Naples, Florida 34108. 1.9 miles of walking1.9 miles of walking With a 1.9-mile walking trail, t1.9 miles of walkinghe Gordon River Greenway weaves among mangroves and other native plants stretching two miles from Golden Gate Parkway toward the heart of Naples.
