Innovation & Global Soft-Landing

Collier County offers two accelerators to jump start local businesses and help foreign companies soft-land and expand to Naples, Florida and nationwide. Our business accelerator opened four years ago and our newest, a culinary accelerator, opened in early 2018.

The Naples Accelerator, our business and tech accelerator, opened in April 2014 at a temporary building and now has a permanent home in a 10,000-square-foot office suite at 3510 Kraft Road, off Pine Ridge Road. It's a member of the National Business Incubator Association and is Southwest Florida's top business accelerator. During fiscal year 2016, we assisted 38 companies, 51 employees, brought in $3.6 million in venture investment and over $600,000 in capital investment. We accelerate the business creation process to increase entrepreneurial success and individual opportunity. Since our inception, we've helped 97 businesses that have garnered more than $12.2 million in venture investment. Currently, there are about three dozen members.

The Naples Accelerator provides a dynamic business environment of contemporary offices, shared office spaces, reserved contemporary work cubicles, sit-stand desks and desk areas with computers, as well as conference rooms, event space, a kitchen and dining area and other common areas. Our mentors include the Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University, Naples SCORE and the Collier County Office of Business & Economic Development.

As well as helping local companies grow, the Naples Accelerator is a soft-landing accelerator that focuses on bringing in foreign companies seeking opportunities to learn how to do business in Florida and the U.S. We work closely with France's government-run incubator networks, Retis and  Val d'Oise Technopole. Global entrepreneurs seek business opportunities in the U.S. due to its vast markets, economic opportunities, investment dollars and firmly established intellectual property protection laws. As a soft-landing zone, the Naples Accelerator offers cost-effective market entry for small to midsized, high-growth companies planning to expand their marketing reach abroad.

In 2018, non-profit Economic Incubators Inc. and the Office of Business & Economic Development opened the Florida Culinary Accelerator @ Immokalee, a state-of-the-art kitchen and production facility in a converted 5,000-square-foot warehouse at Immokalee Regional Airport, where the University of Florida’s Southwest Florida Research & Education Center in Immokalee provides a food testing lab staffed by UF's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.

Our hope is that our culinary accelerator eventually will obtain funding to add more packaging equipment and a hyperbaric HPP machine that will enable farmers, food producers and other participants to use a non-heat, high-pressure process that's superior to pasteurization and will keep food fresher and safer longer. Our intent is to revitalize the Immokalee community by focusing on the locavore movement to promote Immokalee farms and products.
