Thaddeus L. Cohen
Thaddeus Cohen joined the Collier County Growth Management Department in August 2017 and serves as the Department Head overseeing more than 520 full-time employees and a budget of more than $242 million. Mr. Cohen leads a diverse organization with responsibilities that include: three airports; Building Review and Permitting; Code Enforcement; Zoning and Future Land Use; Roads and Bridges; Transportation Engineering; Coastal Zone Management; Capital Projects; Stormwater Management; Roadway Landscaping; Environmental Planning; Pollution Control and Prevention; Geographic Information System (GIS); as well as Growth Management Operations and Regulatory Management.
Mr. Cohen has a Bachelor of Architecture degree and has served in many management positions over the years including; as a planning director of Key West, Fla, executive director of various Community Redevelopment Agencies; and assistant city manager of Pensacola, Fla.; is a former secretary of the Florida Department of Community Affairs and was president of Thaddeus Cohen Architect, PA.
Some of Mr. Cohen’s past civic and business leadership positions include: President of the Palm Beach Chapter of the American Institute of Architects; Board Member of 1000 Friends of Florida; Chairman of the Palm Beach County Affordable Housing Commission; Board Member of the Broward Alliance Economic Development Council; Urban Land Institute member – Florida Committee for Regional Cooperation, Chair of the Florida Community Trust; Board Member of the Florida Housing Finance Corporation; and Florida Department of Environmental Protection Land Acquisition and Restoration Council member.
