James C. French
Jamie joined Collier County Government in 2003 and currently serves as the Deputy Department Head for the Growth Management Department (GMD). Jamie provides direct oversight to five divisions within GMD, which include Financial Operations and Regulatory Management, Land Development Review and Permitting, Building Review and Permitting, Zoning and Comprehensive Planning, and Code Enforcement, with a combined total operating budget of greater than 65 million dollars and more than 340 full-time, job bank and contract employees.
Originally from Broward County, Florida, Jamie's family has resided in Collier County for more than thirty years. Jamie has a Master of Business Administration and holds numerous certifications in Utility Regulation Studies and Lean Six Sigma, with over twenty years of professional leadership experience. He is also a Certified Floodplain Manager, FEMA Incident Command Systems instructor, and is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and American Planning Association (APA).
As a result of the continued support from senior County management, coupled with ever-changing economic fluctuations, Jamie's focus on customer service, team building, and managing client expectations have resulted in numerous project success for the community and industry. While under his purview, the building and land development review and permitting divisions earned the National Association of Counties Achievement Award for Building Permit Review Standards: Managing Expectations in 2014 and Land Development Review: Exceeding Client Expectations in 2015.
After hours, as an alum of Growing Associates in Naples (GAIN) and Leadership Collier (LC) programs, Jamie serves as a chairman of the subcommittee for Education and Advocacy with the Leadership Collier Foundation. He was honored with the 2014 Excellence in Public Service Award and the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award by the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce. He participates with numerous community not-for-profits organizations and volunteers with the Collier County Special Olympics and Farm City BBQ.
