The Comprehensive Planning Section, along with other Collier County Divisions, Departments and Agencies, is responsible for the preparation and implementation of the Growth Management Plan, which is comprised of the following Elements and Sub-Elements: Capital Improvement Element (CIE), Transportation Element (TE), Public Facilities Element [Sanitary Sewer Sub-Element (SS), Potable Water Sub-Element (PW), Drainage Sub-Element, Solid Waste Sub-Element (SW), Natural Groundwater Aquifer Recharge Sub-Element (NGWAR)], Housing Element (HE), Recreation and Open Space Element (ROSE), Conservation and Coastal Element (CCME), Intergovernmental Coordination Element (ICE), Future Land Use Element (FLUE), the Golden Gate Area Master Plan (GGAMP), the Immokalee Area Master Plan (IAMP), Public Schools Facility Element (PSFE), and Economic Element (EE), of the Collier County Growth Management Plan which is the comprehensive long range plan required by the State of Florida. The Department also maintains and provides Population estimates.
Other Comprehensive Planning Section responsibilities are the processes associated to the Transfer of Development Rights Program, the Stewardship Sending Area Program (RLSA/SSA), Establishments or amendments of Community Development Districts, as well as providing Demographic and Economic information.
