Property Acquisition is charged with securing land and land rights necessary for the construction of County infrastructure and supporting facilities. A few examples are rights-of-way for water, sewer, and reclaimed water lines; sites for parks, libraries, emergency medical services personnel and equipment stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, water wells, solid waste disposal facilities; and sites for administrative office facilities.
In addition to negotiation services, Property Acquisition personnel perform site and route selection services, plan and map review, legal description preparation and verification, title research, document preparation, and transaction closings.
Expenditures for property acquisitions generally exceed $5 million annually.
Real estate brokers or individual owners with parcels 50 acres or larger for sale are encouraged to email the County with details c/o of Ms. Toni Mott at the address below. The County may be interested in purchasing all or a portion of these properties for various governmental purposes.
In 1983, Avatar Properties, Inc., donated 1,061 acres of property in Golden Gate Estates to Collier County with the condition that the property or money generated from its sale would be used solely for facilities and community services directly benefiting the residents of Golden Gate Estates.
A few tracts remain available for sale. Tracts are sold “as is” and the buyer is responsible for all costs associated with the sale, including the cost of an appraisal obtained by the County.
