In a continuous effort to save valuable landfill airspace, the Solid & Hazardous Waste Management Division strives to find new and innovative ways to divert recyclable materials from the landfill and preserve our natural resources. The Solid & Hazardous Waste Management Division received approval from the Board of County Commissioners to construct a North Collier Recycling Drop-off Center, located on the west side of the county's North County Water Reclamation Facility just south of the intersection of Goodlette Frank and Immokalee Road. The North Collier Recycling Drop-off Center was modeled after the Marco Island Recycling Drop-off Center, which was recognized as a best-in-the-nation recycling facility for its ability to serve the community through recycling and the protection of the environment.
The North Collier Recycling Drop-off Center provides increased recycling services for communities in the north county area by providing a convenient collection center for recyclable materials and household hazardous waste. The investment in the North Collier Recycling Drop-off Center will save taxpayers funds by lessening our dependency on the Collier County Landfill and extend its life cycle. By diverting valuable recyclable to available markets, the county will capture additional revenue to help offset disposal cost for other materials.
