The Collier County Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Division invites you and your class/group to join us in learning about waste reduction, materials reuse, recycling, and the proper disposal of solid and hazardous wastes. We offer the best recycling classroom presentations and tours (landfill, gas-to-energy plant, and recycling drop-off center) in the county. Our programs can be worked into the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards.

Waste reduction and recycling education can come to you. Our classroom presentation includes class interaction and a short film (13 minutes) on recycling and the processes used to create new products from recycled materials. We bring samples of products created from recycled materials for all to see. The presentation takes approximately 40 to 45 minutes for a classroom of 25 students. We are available to do multiple presentations for your school.

Our field trip to the Collier County Landfill offers a chance to see the inside of a gas-to-energy plant (if requested in advanced) and a working landfill up close and personal from the highest point in Collier County. The volume of garbage created in Collier County takes on a new meaning when you are standing on a hill of garbage 100 feet high, looking down at a working landfill. The landfill is located just east of Collier Boulevard (County Road 951) near I-75. Tours can be arranged at any time during the year and take approximately 45 minutes once you reach the landfill. We can also include a quick trip to one of the recycling drop-off centers, if your time permits. The school is responsible for the transportation to and from the tour sites.

Call now to schedule your classroom presentations and /or tours as our calendar fills quickly.  Please contact us by email at or call (239) 252-5375.
